Aviation. Travel. Lifestyle.
We are Family Takes Flight
Individuals going through the world together, that love the lifestyle of general aviation travel in personal airplanes.
Pre Flight
As I climbed aboard the small plane, little did I know that my life would change forever. I experienced something else. Something most people do not see; the view of the world from 10,000 feet. That first flight would be the flight to lead me to take flight.
Takeoff
Our family is taking flight, though not away from anything in particular. Flights toward the dreams we have, joining people and places that share the love of aviation travel.
Flight Plan
To share our story of the lifestyle of general aviation travel.
Our Story
We are taking flight with a day trip here, a weekend there, and an occasional week away. We are two people who found each other the second time around, that share the love of travel. First, my pilot showed me the joys of aviation, then he taught me the love of aviation. I coaxed my pilot off the airport and showed him how to enjoy the simple things in life. We are raising two boys, working full-time jobs, and finding the time to enjoy life.
General Aviation
One of the joys of being a general aviation pilot is landing somewhere that you have never landed before. However, flying general aviation airplanes, we have learned the hard way that everything you want to know is not in the public record.
We review the airports and the fixed based operators we visit, if they have a fixed base operator (FBO).
There are many joys and struggles with owning airplanes. After you buy a plane there are issues of insurance, proficiency, and currency. Every plane eventually will need maintenance and repairs.
We’ve dealt with all of those issues plus we have rebuilt a few planes for fun. Though the price my pilot spent on one gallon of paint for his Mooney rebuild is a still makes me cringe.

General Aviation Lifestyle
You can go places, see things and have experiences that many people never know even exist, in your personal airplane.
The general aviation lifestyle allows you to go when you want and where you want.
The stress of travel is limited. The majority of the travel restrictions are removed through general aviation. There are no airport security lines.
You choose with who you want to travel with. You choose when you want to leave and when you want to return (weather contingent).
You can take your snacks, open bottle of water, and even your dog. Yes, our dogs fly. Neither of the dogs can reach the rudder pedals but they are excellent at looking for traffic out the window.

General Aviation Travel
We both were missing a sense of adventure, but we found it together, with my boys. We travel while maintaining his career in Florida, my career in South Carolina, and two boys in school.
We love visiting tropical islands, places not easily accessed without a plane, random stops on our way to a chosen destination, or aviation event.
We also love the small airstrips for a good fly-in or a hundred-dollar hamburger. If you are a pilot, you understand the hundred-dollar hamburger.

Yes, life is an adventure. I love being the #rightseatpilot and the lifestyle of general aviation travel. If my pilot has his way, I will be a pilot too. Until then, I will keep looking out the window in search of round rainbows and snowflakes in July.
Where to next?
Next, we will continue our weekend trips – on the fly. Breakfast fly-ins and airshows are on the calendar. Plans are in the process for island hopping to new islands and a couple of return trips to islands with blue water.
Between the takeoffs, we will share information on traveling by small plane, airports, and runways we use for our landings and the general aviation lifestyle of it all.
If you have suggestions on where we need to go, send us a message.
